ORDER ARCHITECTURE / QUANTITY BY EXACT SKU

Custom Drinkware MOQ and Order Planning

There is no reliable universal MOQ for custom drinkware. A workable quantity depends on the selected body, colour split, component direction, decoration and packaging. Use this decision page to turn a broad volume target into a factory-ready order structure.

Factory platform reference: shared bodies, closures and accessories need separate SKU-level feasibility checks.

THE ORDER IS A SYSTEM, NOT ONE NUMBER.

Map the five elements behind every order line

01 ◇ BODY

Reference model, capacity and base platform.

02 ◌ CLOSURE

Lid, seal, straw, handle or accessory version.

03 ▣ FINISH

Colour, surface direction and decoration artwork.

04 ▤ PACK

Unit pack, insert, label and receiving marks.

05 → QUANTITY

Pieces for that exact combination, not just a total.

Use an order matrix before you ask for MOQ

Core SKU

One reference body + one closure + one finish + one artwork + one pack, followed by the requested pieces.

Variant SKU

Show exactly what changes: colour, logo, lid or packaging. Do not bury a different component inside “same product.”

Shared element

Identify the parts that may truly be common across lines, then ask which can share sourcing or production setup.

A forecast can show programme intent, but it should remain separate from the approved launch quantity.

Configuration reference: colour, lid, decoration and packaging splits should be visible before a quantity discussion.

Find the real constraint before changing the product

If a planned split is below a proposed minimum, ask which line creates the constraint: model, coating colour, decoration setup, component or retail pack. Test a smaller number of meaningful changes instead of combining unrelated variants on paper. The best first order preserves the product features that matter while keeping the commercial basis clear.

Three planning routes

PLATFORM-LED

Begin with a suitable existing format and focus the first decision on colour, decoration and pack.

RANGE-LED

Build a planned collection, then state the volume by individual colour or artwork before assuming it can be pooled.

DEVELOPMENT-LED

When a new component or structure is essential, separate the feasibility and sample conversation from the initial quantity question.

Questions worth asking during an MOQ conversation

Does this minimum apply to the model or to each colour and artwork version?

Ask the supplier to tie the answer to each exact product line and identify which elements may be shared.

What happens if the retail packaging changes?

A custom box, insert or label may introduce its own order constraints. Review it alongside the drinkware configuration.

What needs approval before volume increases?

Confirm the selected body, closure, finish and pack against the intended use; a higher volume does not resolve an unfinished product decision.

Send a SKU-by-SKU order plan

Provide the reference product or concept, quantity by exact variant, target market, packaging direction and any non-negotiable user or brand requirements. Golmate can then discuss a product-specific minimum, rather than implying a fixed MOQ that may not apply to the final configuration.
