THE BRANDING STUDIO / METHOD + MATERIAL + ARTWORK

Drinkware Logo Printing and Finishes

Choose a decoration route for your actual bottle or tumbler—not from a process name alone. Compare engraving, printing and surface finishes around artwork, body geometry and the appearance you need.

START WITH THE VISUAL RESULT

What does your brand need to look like?

01 / Crisp spot colour
Discuss a compatible direct-print route for clean shapes and brand colours.

02 / Subtle metal contrast
Discuss laser engraving against the selected material and coating.

03 / Detailed or full-wrap artwork
Review a suitable transfer, UV or other process for the product geometry.

METHOD COMPARISON

Compare the method, then check the product

These are routes to discuss, not promises that every treatment is available on every SKU. Confirm the substrate, finish, artwork and production scope before sampling.

RouteVisual directionWhat can limit itWhat to approve
Laser engravingA restrained mark with contrast against the selected surface.Material, coating colour, mark area and the desired contrast.Visibility, mark position, edge quality and surrounding finish.
Screen printingSolid-colour logos or graphics on a suitable print area.Colour count, fine detail, curved coverage and registration.Colour references, coverage, edges, scale and placement.
UV or compatible direct printingDetailed or multicolour artwork where the product and process permit.Surface compatibility, printable shape, handling and cure requirements.Detail, registration, appearance and agreed durability expectations.
Transfer or wrap-oriented routeArtwork covering a larger area or a compatible full-wrap direction.Taper, seams, handles, artwork distortion and substrate compatibility.Coverage boundary, alignment, joins and the visual result on the body.
Coating + decorationA coordinated finish and mark rather than a logo alone.Coating texture, colour, gloss and compatibility with the selected mark.Finish reference, logo contrast, placement and combined appearance.

FINISH IS THE BACKGROUND TO THE BRAND

Separate surface finish from logo method

Powder-coated direction

Discuss colour, texture and visible uniformity. Confirm how the selected logo route reads on the coated body and what care or handling expectations apply.

Painted or effect direction

Discuss matte, gloss, gradient or other finish directions against the selected product. A screen image is not a substitute for the physical appearance reference.

Visible-metal direction

Discuss the steel appearance and desired mark contrast. Reflectivity and curvature can change how the logo reads under normal viewing conditions.

DO NOT APPROVE A FLAT LOGO IN ISOLATION

Curves, handles and seams change the canvas

  • Identify the intended viewing face and usable branding panel.
  • Set artwork dimensions and position from a visible body reference.
  • Allow for taper, seams, handle clearance and drinking-contact areas.
  • Review how graphics read when the product is held or turned.
  • Keep required marks and no-print zones clear.
Quality-control review of decorated drinkware surfaces
Inspection reference: compare decoration with the agreed sample and artwork.

Approve the mark at the size and distance people will see

An artwork proof should answer more than whether the logo file is correct. Hold the decorated sample in the way a customer will use the product and view it from the expected shelf, desk or hand-held distance. Check whether small lettering remains legible, whether the mark sits on the intended face and how the selected finish changes contrast.

Close-up review

Inspect line edges, small details, registration and the relationship between the mark and seams, handles or tapered areas. Record the controlling artwork size and placement.

Normal-use review

Look at the cup from the angles a user or shopper will see. Compare colour and contrast with a physical reference under agreed viewing conditions.

If a full-colour or wraparound idea crosses a seam, a handle or a strongly tapered area, review feasibility on that exact body before promising the effect. A flat screen preview is not a production reference.

ARTWORK HANDOFF

A controlled artwork pack is more useful than a screenshot

Product + surface

  • Exact product model or dimensioned reference.
  • Body material and finish direction.
  • Preferred print face, position and coverage.
  • Intended handling and cleaning context.

Artwork + references

  • Vector artwork; outline fonts where appropriate.
  • Logo width, height and placement reference.
  • Spot-colour references or full-colour direction.
  • Required marks, market copy and no-print zones.

For quotation, also include estimated quantity and the number of artwork positions or colourways. Commercial scope, sample requirements and the final decoration route are confirmed for the project.

THE APPROVAL WALL

Keep four decisions together

Approval gateWhat to resolve
01 / Review the substrate and finishConfirm material, coating, colour direction and available decoration area.
02 / Check artwork feasibilityReview line weight, negative space, colour count, wrap distance and registration.
03 / Approve a representative sampleReview size, position, detail, contrast and surrounding finish on the actual product.
04 / Define production checksRecord controlling artwork, appearance reference and SKU-specific inspection points.

Use the sample approval process to record the final baseline →

Keep a separate approval for each material SKU difference

A shared brand artwork may travel across a collection, but each body shape and surface combination needs its own placement decision. Record the product model, finish, decoration route, artwork version, mark dimensions and physical sample reference together. If only the colour changes, decide whether contrast or process settings need another proof rather than silently inheriting the first approval.

  • Confirm which appearance is controlled by the base finish and which by the logo process.
  • Name the approved artwork file and its orientation for every vessel shape.
  • Identify the physical proof used to compare colour, contrast and placement.
  • Record the inspection points that matter to the buyer’s intended use and market.

For a quotation, send the selected body and finish, vector artwork, number of colourways, intended mark coverage and estimated quantities. That gives the decoration discussion a defined scope without claiming one method is suitable for every SKU.

If packaging also carries the brand system, connect this approval to the packaging brief before final files are released.

Bring the product and artwork into the same conversation

Send the selected body, surface direction and vector files. Golmate can help clarify the feasible method and the next sample-approval questions.
